Join us for an exclusive, members-only walking tour!

The history of building arts in New Orleans was shaped by the accomplishments of free people of color who dominated the building trades beginning in the 18th century and who passed unique, sometimes secret, site-specific trade knowledge down through their families for generations. Join us to learn more about the buildings around us and the artisans who built them, especially artisans who are often left out of the historical narrative.

“Who Built Dat?” is a walking tour researched and developed by historian and co-founder of the New Orleans Master Crafts Guild, Jonn Hankins. Jonn will take us through the lower French Quarter and nearby neighborhoods highlighting the homes, work and history of these craftsmen who contributed so singularly to the beloved architectural style of New Orleans.

The tour will start in front of the New Orleans Jazz Museum at 400 Esplanade Avenue.
